Sleigh Collection in Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs
Newhaven Peacehaven and Seaford Lions Club thanks the residents of Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs for the generosity shown to us over the three weeks before Christmas. With your kind help we managed to raise a record £2349 with the NPS Santa's sleigh runs which will be used for local good causes. We had good luck with the weather this year and we were only rained off on one night.
Don't forget that we will be running Peacehaven's premier summer event on Sunday July 13th 2008 with our Donkey Derby at the Dell.
NPS Lions helps Newhaven Coastwatch
The lookout at Newhaven is the 26th station reopened by the National Coastwatch since they first started in 1994 at Bass Point in Cornwall. The motto of the Coastwatch is “Spot, Plot & Report” a service they provide every day. Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford Lions club had great pleasure in raising funds for Coastwatch earlier this year. Treasurer John Hawkley says the contribution will go towards improvements at the lookout. A cheque was presented to Treasurer John Hawkley by Lion President Doug Janes. (1107)
NPS Lions Autumn Tints Tour

NPS Lions Club treated a group of 50 Senior Citizens to a tour of the County to see the Autumn colours in all their glory, finishing up with a delicious cream tea at Halland Forge. The weather could not have been better and enhanced by the brilliant reds, yellows, oranges and greens of autumnal season.
Seaford Donkey Derby and Classic Car Show
A record amount of over £6,200 was raised by NPS Lions at August Bank Holiday Monday's Donkey Derby held at the Martello fields Seaford on Bank Holiday Monday, opened by the Mayor of Seaford Councillor Ralph Taylor and his good lady Pam Hughes. Also in attendance was the Carnival Princess Emma Hatt. They were given a guided tour of the many stalls by our very own President Doug Janes.
Amidst the Seven Donkey Races, Sumo wrestlers entertained us with their antics.
Seaford Responders gave us an excellent re-enactment of a callout to a cardiac arrest case. NPS Lions has recently purchased two first responder kits and defibrillators which we know have been put to good use, as very recently our ownTreasurer Roger Mould fell victim to a heart attack. Seaford Responders were first on the scene and stabilised Roger before transfer to Eastbourne DGH.
