MINIBUS

NPS LIONS Club has two minibuses, one based in Peacehaven and the other in Seaford . They are used by a large number of local community organisations and are both minibuses are adapted with tail lifts.

They are available on loan to community groups in and Seaford , Peacehaven, Newhaven and Telscombe Cliffs area. If you would like to use one of our vehicles please contact the minibus coordinator on 07847 464547.

We expect community users to provide their own drivers. All drivers must hold an appropriate DVLA Licence permitting minibus driving, be over 25 and under 70. One bus has a manual gearbox and therefore drivers must be licensed accordingly.

New drivers will need to complete an application form and a Driver Check mandate form to obtain a ‘Permit To Drive' for our minibuses. The details on the application form will be retained by us as a record of permitted drivers for insurance purposes. The DriverCheck form will be passed to DriverCheck Ltd. who act on the club's behalf to validate the driving licence details presented to us with those held by the DVLA.

NPS LIONS Club have decided to make use of the DriverCheck Ltd service, in order to protect themselves as a result of the introduction of new legislation regarding corporate liability and any claims that may be made against them, should an incident occur with a driver whose licence is no longer current or is invalid in some way. DriverCheck Ltd charge £10.57 (including VAT) for this service which the members have agreed must be met by persons applying to drive or the organisation using the minibuses. The NPS ‘Permit to Drive' will be valid for 3 years. For more details about DriverCheck please see www.drivercheck.co.uk

Please remember to enclose a copy of both the front and back of your current driving licence (and counterpart if you have one) with your application forms. When both forms are completed please return them with the copies of your driving licence to the address at the end of the application form with a cheque for £10.57 payable to DriverCheck Ltd

Once your permit is issued you will need to undertake a short induction in the use of the tail lifts etc. and a member of NPS LIONS Club should contact you within a week of the permit being issued to arrange this. Should this not happen please contact the Lions minibus coordinator on 07847 464547 to arrange a mutually convenient time for the induction course.
