New Hoist for Sailability
New Hoist for Sailability supported donated by NEWHAVEN, PEACEHAVEN AND SEAFORD LIONS CLUB and Chandlers Building supplies.
Earlier this year, our local Lions club donated over £2000 towards an additional hoist for transferring participants in and out of the Hansa dinghies we use at Piddinghoe during our Sailability sessions. Chandlers Building supplies kindly donated the materials for us to complete the base for this second hoist.
The second hoist has helped speed up the process of changing over participants into and out of boats during the sessions. This has allowed us to increase the number of sailors we take out each week, recently peaking at 28 in one afternoon.
It also provides a redundancy in our facilities which we dearly needed.
So, thanks to the Lions Club and to Chandlers, more disabled people from all over Sussex, many with highly complex needs, are now able to experience sailing at Piddinghoe Lake.
I would also like to thank the numerous volunteers for helping with the build.
