Launch of New Lions Project Promises Free Community Transport

Lions Club unveils ambitious new community transport initiative.

What is the Project?

The Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford (NPS) Lions Club has officially announced the launch of its latest project. This new initiative will deliver a much needed service to the local community and is available free to local community groups, with costs being borne by the NPS Lions Club. After delivering a minibus service to the local community for over 50 years, the NPS Lions Club has now enhanced this service in collaboration with new partners in the area. These partners include community transport organisations in the local area providing a service which can be used by any community groups in the Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford area. All you need to remember is that costs will be borne by the NPS Lions Club with nothing to be paid by your group!

How does the Project Work?

Any local community group can apply to use the service by first contacting the NPS Lions Club using the following link:

After registering your community group with the NPS Lions, you will then be able to contact any of the following community transport operators and book a minibus (and driver) free of charge:

  • Brighton and Hove Community Transport
  • CTLA (community transport for the Lewes area)
  • Cuckmere Buses

You will simply need to provide whichever operator that you choose with the details of your journey, including where and when to pick up your clients/members and how many seats are likely to be required. You will be provided with more details about how to contact the transport operators once you register your community group with the NPS Lions.

Voices from the Lions Club

Club president Colin Meagher expressed his enthusiasm: "This project is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with a shared purpose. We are excited to work alongside residents, partners, and supporters to provide at no cost to the user, minibus transport for our local community groups."

Colin continues "You may also wonder what happened to our Lions minibus? You'll be pleased to hear that this was donated to the Havens Happy Club where we are sure that it will deliver useful service to elderly in the community."

Project Vision and Objectives

Drawing on the Club's proud history, the initiative aims to:

  • Support the vulnerable through access to essential transport.
  • Support charities and not for profit organisations within the Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford areas.
  • Provide transport and drivers for outings for groups within our area.
  • Work in partnership with other local community groups and transport providers.

These objectives are in line with the Lions Club's commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents in Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford.
